About Robert Hyman

Robert Hyman

Robert Hyman is currently employed at Stockholm's Opera Conservatory as one of its principal voice teachers.

He made his opera debut in America, but has sung on stages throughout the world. He has been living and working in Europe for almost 30 years. Mr Hyman has sung under the batons of Maestro Fabio Luisi, Maestro Marco Armiliato, Maestro Nello Santi, Maestro James Conlon and scores of others.

Although starting primarily with Mozart, he quickly moved to focus on the Italian repertoire and sang many of the major Verdi baritone roles including Conte di Luna and Rigoletto in more than 50 performances. His roles include both Figaros, Scarpia, Marcello, Conte di Luna, Rigoletto, Germont, Miller, Macbeth, Iago, Nabucco, Michele, and Tonio,

Mr. Hyman made his European debut in Leipzig in 1991 and continued to sing many productions with that theater. He has appeared in opera houses in Brussels, Amsterdam, Palermo, Trieste, Milano, Genova, Hamburg, Frankfurt. He also performed a Mozart trilogy for MDR television. He has also sung In Beijing and Macau. He later ventured into the German repetoire including Tamare in Die Gezeichneten by Schrecker in Palermo, and Simone in I by Zemlinsky in Spoleto.
